iPhone 20 Will Come with Many Different Processors

iPhone 20 Will Come with Many Different Processors

Apple will switch to 1.4nm A22 Pro chips in the upper segment iPhone models in 2028. Discover this technological revolution that will take place in cooperation with TSMC and Intel.

Apple is preparing for a groundbreaking change in the technology world and plans to use A22 Pro processors with 1.4 nanometer architecture in the upper segment iPhone 20 models that it will launch in 2028. According to information shared by Bloomberg, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. is the main supplier for this technological leap. Continuing its cooperation with (TSMC), the company is also evaluating different alternatives to guarantee its production capacity.

After the N3P 3nm production process used in the current iPhone 17 series, Apple will switch to 2nm technology in 2026 and aims to raise the performance and power efficiency bar much higher with 1.4nm by 2028.

  • Apple will use A22 Pro processors with 1.4nm production technology in the upper segment iPhone 20 models in 2028.
  • The new chips to be produced by TSMC will offer 15 percent higher performance or 30 percent more power saving compared to previous generations.
  • Apple is evaluating the possibility of establishing a production partnership with Intel in order to strengthen its supply chain.

TSMC Will Increase Performance with New Production Process in iPhone 20 Series

The 1.4nm node technology, which TSMC has been working on for a long time, brings revolutionary innovations in the smartphone world. This new node architecture, called A14, promises up to 15 percent more processing power compared to the existing 2nm N2 technology. Alternatively, a 30 percent improvement in the power consumption of devices can be achieved while maintaining the same performance level.

The new generation 1.4nm chips will redefine smartphone standards in both performance and efficiency.

Production Costs and Capacity Shortages Set the Agenda

Each new generation production node brings with it higher production costs and a complex production process. The demand for advanced chip technologies is not limited to Apple alone; Giant companies that produce artificial intelligence servers, such as NVIDIA, also create heavy competition over TSMC’s capacity. Apple CEO Tim Cook stated in a recent statement that supply restrictions, especially in the A19 chip series, directly affected the production of iPhone 17.

Intel Subsidiary Could Be a Strategic Breakthrough

Apple may make a new collaboration with Intel to diversify its chip supply chain. Apple, which previously used Intel chips in Mac computers, plans to produce Apple-designed Arm-based processors at Intel facilities within the scope of the new agreement. It is known that Intel is working on 14A node technology at the 1.4nm level and this process will be ready for production in 2028. This strategic step supports Apple’s goal of reducing production risks.
