Erying MoDT motherboards, which bring Intel Core i7-13798HRE and i5-13598HRE processors to the desktop, have been released with DDR4 and PCIe 5.0 support.
Intel Raptor Lake processors are being integrated into desktop computers thanks to the new generation MoDT motherboards developed by Erying. This special design creates a compact system architecture by selling portable-class processors directly onto the motherboard.
These new motherboards from Erying bring Intel’s high-performance processor series, designed for industrial and embedded systems, to desktop users. In this structure, called MoDT, or Mobile on Desktop, the processors are fixed to the PCB instead of a replaceable LGA socket as in classic desktop systems.
Technical Specifications and Processor Performance
The Core i7-13798HRE model offers a total of 14 cores, with 6 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores. This processor reaches a maximum frequency of 5.0 GHz and stands out with its 24 MB L3 cache capacity.
The Core i5-13598HRE model has a 12-core configuration consisting of 4 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores. This processor can reach a frequency of 4.8 GHz and is supported by 18 MB L3 cache.
Both processors have a base power consumption of 55 W and do not include an integrated graphics unit. Therefore, an external graphics card must be installed for the system to provide video output.
Motherboards come with DDR4 memory support instead of DDR5, thus enabling more cost-effective system builds. There are two DDR4 UDIMM memory slots on the board.
Connectivity Options and Market Status
On the expansion side, the motherboard supports new standards with one PCIe 5.0 x8 and one PCIe 3.0 x4 slot. The fact that the PCIe 5.0 connection works physically and electrically in an x8 structure makes it possible to use graphics cards that require high bandwidth.
For storage needs, there are two M.2 SSD slots on the board, one operating at PCIe 4.0 x4 and the other at PCIe 3.0 x4 speed. In addition, there are two SATA connection points on the motherboard for classic storage units.
The rear connection panel features two USB-A ports at 10 Gbps speed and six USB-A ports at 480 Mbps speed. Network connectivity is provided via a single Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 port.
Erying has launched the Core i7-13798HRE processor model for 1,399 yuan and the Core i5-13598HRE processor model for 1,199 yuan. Since the processors are soldered to the motherboard, it is technically impossible for users to upgrade the processor in the future.
Third-party trademarks also list new models with comparable specifications to the Core i7-13799HRE and Core i5-13599HRE. Comprehensive independent performance tests for these motherboards have not yet been shared, and it remains unclear whether they will be released in markets outside of China. Do you think selling portable processors soldered onto desktop motherboards is a sensible option for users who want to build affordable systems?
