Samsung announced its new tandem OLED display technology developed for laptops. This new panel managed to obtain the DisplayHDR True Black 1400 certification, which was recently introduced by VESA.

The certification in question requires screens to reach a brightness level of 1400 nits and black pixels to remain at 0.0005 nits or lower. Samsung achieves these high performance values ​​with a special design in which it places two OLED panels on top of each other.

Advantages of tandem OLED technology

The fact that the two panels share the workload allows the screen to operate under less stress. Thanks to this structure, new tandem OLED panels offer more than twice the lifespan compared to standard single-layer OLED displays.

Samsung also uses new organic emissive materials to increase the performance and durability of the panel. This technology combines the advantages of both high brightness and long-term use on laptop screens.

New panel, 11th generation Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i Aura EditionIt meets users for the first time in its model. This 16-inch screen, called PureSight Pro Tandem OLED, stands out with its 3.2K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.

The screen can reach a peak brightness of 1600 nits, covering the entire sRGB and DCI-P3 color spaces and 99 percent of AdobeRGB. While this new model from Lenovo can be configured with Intel Core Ultra 7 or 9 processors, Nvidia GeForce RTX 5050 or 5060 options are offered on the graphics side.

The device comes with 32GB LPDDR5X memory, up to 1TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD and 92.5Wh battery capacity. The 17.2mm thick laptop also has a bold profile in terms of portability with its 1.9kg load.

Samsung’s new tandem OLED panels will also be included in laptop models from other manufacturers such as Asus, Dell and MSI in the second half of the year. The company will exhibit this new display technology at the K-Display 2026 fair to be held in Seoul between July 22-24.
