The driving force of growth: iPhone 17 series
Global smartphone revenue increased by 7% year-on-year, reaching $109 billion and setting a new second-quarter record. Average sales prices increased by 17 percent in the same period, rising to around $400.
Apple’s smartphone revenue increased by 22 percent compared to the same period last year. While the company’s shipments increased by 13 percent, the average iPhone sales price rose from $879 to $946. The main factor behind this financial performance is said to be the strong demand for the iPhone 17 series. The company achieved its highest ever shipment share in the second quarter, increasing its share in this area from 17 percent to 21 percent.
Samsung continues to maintain its market leadership with a 23 percent shipment share. China, Europe, and emerging markets played a critical role in Apple’s growth. In terms of revenue, Samsung ranked second after Apple with a 16% share. Samsung’s revenues and shipments increased by 9%, while its average selling price remained stable at $270.
Among the top five manufacturers in the market, Xiaomi experienced the most significant decline. The company’s shipments decreased by 26%, and its revenue by 17%. However, Xiaomi’s average selling price increased by 13%.
