GTA 5 cheat service Atlas Menu has been hacked. Sensitive information such as e-mails, passwords and IP addresses of 64,000 users were leaked as a result of a cyber attack.
Atlas Menu platform, which offers cheat software for GTA 5, suffered a major cyber attack. According to the report of the data breach tracking site called Have I Been Pwned, sensitive information of approximately 64,000 users was leaked as a result of this raid. The breached information includes email addresses, usernames, passwords, IP addresses and reinforcement requests. Despite the cheat service’s arguments that it offers “complete privacy with advanced encryption”, the quick capture of user information revealed a major security vulnerability. The person who carried out the attack shared the captured information on GitHub and described this step as a revenge attack.
Security Claims Do Not Reflect the Truth
On its official website, Atlas Menu claimed that the service it offered to its users was extremely secure and that it used advanced encryption techniques.
However, the cyber attack proved that these promises were just a marketing strategy. Currently, the platform’s website cannot be accessed and the site is offline.
Tens of thousands of players who trusted promises of security were put at serious risk when their personal data was leaked.
The Motivation Behind the Attack Is Surprising
The hacker who claimed responsibility for the incident stated that he carried out the attack to take revenge against a fraudster.
The publication of the stolen information on GitHub showed the world the gaps in the security infrastructure of the platform. While the cheating section has become a huge market where players spend significant amounts of money to gain in-game advantages, the security of such services is often overlooked.
Security Issues Continue in Cheating Services
GTA 5 Atlas Menu is not the first cheat platform to be attacked by cybercrime. In the past, cheat services developed for well-known games such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive have also come to the fore with similar information breaches.
This shows that players who use cheat software risk not only the game rules but also the privacy of their personal data.
Using cheat software in the gaming world endangers both game security and personal cyber security.
Do you think players who use cheat software are sufficiently conscious about the security of their information? Do you trust the security promises offered by these platforms? Share your opinions with us in the comments section.
