Introduced alongside AI Ultra in May, Gemini Spark is now available for Google AI Pro subscribers in the United States. Google states that this new feature will be available to AI Pro users in other countries soon.

Gemini Spark stands out as a personal assistant designed to automate complex tasks. This feature, which appears as a new tab at the top of the navigation panel on the web, is accessible on a different page on Android and iOS devices.

Automating Workflows with Gemini Spark

Spark uses a variety of high-touch applications such as Google Workspace, Search, personal intelligence tools, remote web browser, and code execution to complete workflows. Users can run up to 15 missions at once, and these processes are subject to Gemini’s current compute-based usage limits.

With this system, Google also introduces the concepts of skills and timings. Skills represent reusable instructions with additional context, while timings refer to automatic triggers that are necessarily dependent on time or conditions. For example, this timing and task mechanism makes it possible for the system to automatically send notifications and update the travel program in case of a flight delay.

Extended Workspace and Application Integration

Google has significantly expanded Spark’s capabilities since its launch, bringing major updates to its Workspace functionality in particular. The Gemini application on macOS allows starting missions such as scanning documents over the phone.

In terms of calendar management, Spark can perform processes such as updating meeting times, canceling events or offering smart scheduling offers based on the availability of participants. On the Gmail side, processes such as searching, summarizing and drafting email threads become easier.

Thanks to Docs, Sheets, Slides and Drive integration, users can manage their documents, edit content and prepare presentations. While user approval is required for edits to shared documents, notes and lists can be created on Google Keep. On the Google Tasks side, batch processes can be made on reminders and tasks, but it is emphasized that caution should be exercised at this point.
