Eşel Mobile System Will Be Phased Out Within 3 Months

Eşel Mobile System Will Be Phased Out Within 3 Months

With the decision of the Official Gazette, the Eşel portable system is being phased out within 3 months. Minister Mehmet Şimşek explained the effect of the application on prices.

According to the new decision published in the Official Gazette, the Eşel portable system, which was put into operation with the aim of minimizing the effect of oil price fluctuations on inflation, will be gradually terminated within the next 3 months. This system, carried out by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, was implemented for an indefinite period of time to prevent price increases in global power markets from reflecting directly on citizens’ pockets. The liquidation process of the application, which served as a shield against rising oil prices, especially after the US-Iran tension, became official within the scope of the current program of the economic management.

  • The Eşel portable system will be phased out within a three-month calendar.
  • The system was used to limit the impact of sudden increases in fuel prices on inflation.
  • Minister Mehmet Şimşek explained with data the concrete price advantages that the application provides to the citizen’s budget.

Minister Şimşek Shared the Benefits of the Application

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek made statements detailing how much fuel prices were suppressed compared to market prices during the period the system was in effect. Minister Şimşek summarized the protection provided by the application with the following words: “If we had not implemented this system, the price of a liter of diesel in Ankara would be 83 lira and 10 kuruş. Thanks to Eşel portable, it is currently at the level of 67 lira and 10 kuruş. If the application had not been implemented, the fuel price would have increased to 71 lira and 11 kuruş, but now it is at the level of 62 lira and 30 kuruş.”

The economic administration aims to transition to the normalization process in tax regulations on fuel.

Price Differences in Fuel Draw Attention

The newer data shared by Minister Şimşek once again revealed how critical the effect of the system is.

The Minister said, “If Esel mobile had not been available, the liter of diesel fuel would have been 103 TL, but the price is now 86 TL. While the liter of fuel should have been 78 TL, it was kept at 64 TL thanks to the system.” These data prove that the system creates a significant price difference that is reflected at the fuel pump.

The Abolition of the System Begins a New Era

The government aims to adapt to market conditions by terminating the system with a 3-month transition period. This process is considered as the harbinger of a new era in which prices in the power market will be determined more freely.

Experts predict that once the implementation ends, fuel prices will react more directly to global oil barrel prices.

The removal of the practice will start a new pricing period in the fuel market.
