Microsoft is rolling out a new feature in September that will automatically roll back faulty drivers installed via Windows Update.
Microsoft is preparing to make significant changes to Windows Update to improve the Windows 11 experience. The company is developing a new feature to minimize driver-related problems experienced by users.
Users will now be able to wait for the system to produce solutions on its own instead of dealing with faulty drivers. With this new process, Microsoft aims to eliminate the need for manual intervention.
The era of cloud-based drive recovery
newly developed Cloud-Initiated Driver RecoveryThe feature can automatically detect faulty drivers installed via Windows Update. As soon as the system detects the problematic driver, it replaces it with a previously working version.
In the current situation, Windows 11 users are forced to resort to manual rollbacks to fix driver problems. Hardware manufacturers have to release new drivers to fix errors.
Microsoft’s senior program manager Garrett Duchesne made statements about the operation of this new system. Duchesne stated that if the drivers are determined to be problematic during the quality evaluation process, the recovery process is initiated via the cloud.
This process occurs without any manual intervention from users or hardware partners. Thus, it is aimed to prevent system instability caused by faulty drivers.
Windows updates will be less disruptive
The new feature is currently being tested with Microsoft’s hardware partners. The system is planned to be gradually offered to users starting from September.

Microsoft is also taking other steps to make Windows updates less annoying. Users can now extend the update pause period as long as they want.
It is also possible to skip updates during device installation. The necessity of pending installing updates when shutting down or restarting the computer is also eliminated.
How much easier do you think these innovations will make the daily experience of Windows 11 users?
