DLC for Resident Evil Requiem is on the Way

The expected mini game update for Resident Evil Requiem, which sold 7 million copies in a short time, is coming in May. Here are the details from the development process of the game.

Resident Evil Requiem, which achieved great success by reaching seven million sales in a short time, also increased the financial expectations of developer CAPCOM. Game director Koshi Nakanishi and producer Masato Kumazawa announced that the free mini game update that fans have been eagerly awaiting will be released very soon.

This new content, which will be accessible to players who have completed the main story during the Golden Week holiday in Japan, will probably meet gamers on May 7. CAPCOM officials stated that this new mode is based on the main story mechanics and will offer players an exciting experience.

  • Resident Evil Requiem broke a record by selling seven million copies in less than two months after its release.
  • The development team completely canceled a “Chapter 2” content during the development process in order to maintain the pace of the game.
  • The new mini-game can only be played by players who have completed the main scenario.
  • While 90% of the players prefer the third-person camera in the Leon episodes, FPS and TPS preferences are balanced in the Grace episodes.

New Content Meets Players in May

CAPCOM has started to clarify the release schedule of the free mini game prepared for Resident Evil Requiem. Producer Masato Kumazawa suggested that players wait for the update by completing the main scenario during the Golden Week holiday. This makes it highly likely that the mode will be available around May 7.

The mini-game in question is expected to be a new version of the Mercenaries mode, which attracts great interest from fans.

Important Decisions Are Made During the Development Process

Nakanishi announced that, just like the Resident Evil 7 project, a “Chapter 2” content in Requiem was released during the development phase. The team’s “extraction”-focused philosophy required difficult but strategic decisions to increase the fluidity of the game. It was also shared that the project was initially based solely on Leon, while the character of Grace was elevated to the level of the main hero in the process.

The developers’ decision to reduce content to maintain game tempo played a critical role in the success of the game.

Looking at platform-based data, it is observed that PC players are more inclined to the first-person perspective, while Japanese and Asian players prefer the third-person camera. Resident Evil Requiem continues to be among the most notable productions of the series with both its technical choices and storytelling.
