Design Details of Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 Leaked

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 gets a lighter and thinner body with its new hinge design. Here are the highlights of the foldable phone.

Samsung does not plan to make radical changes in the design of its new foldable phone, Galaxy Z Flip 8, which it is preparing to launch this summer. The South Korean technology giant is focusing on some innovations that will improve the ergonomics and aesthetic appearance of the device while preserving the general structure of the current model.

The new model will be presented to users with a lighter and thinner structure compared to the previous generation Galaxy Z Flip 7. The newly developed hinge mechanism both reduces the weight of the device and aims to eliminate the folding mark on the screen.

Lighter and Trace-Free Screen Experience

According to information shared by South Korea-based Yeux1122, Galaxy Z Flip 8 will have a body that is approximately 0.5 mm thinner than its predecessor. While this slimming is possible thanks to the new hinge design, the total weight of the device will decrease by 8 grams.

CAD rendering images published by OnLeaks and Android Headlines confirm that the device will have dimensions of 166.8 mm x 75.4 mm x 6.6 mm when open and 85.4 mm x 75.4 mm x 13.2 mm when closed. This data shows that the folded device is half a millimeter thinner than the Flip 7.

One of the most striking features of the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will be its new display technology, which is expected to completely eliminate the folding mark on foldable screens.

The developed hinge structure is expected to play a key role in solving this problem, which has been seen in Samsung’s foldable models to date.

On the hardware side, Galaxy Z Flip 8 will largely continue to retain the features of Flip 7. The camera module, battery capacity and charging speeds of the device will remain the same as the previous model.

According to previous leaks, the phone will come with a 4.1-inch cover screen and a 6.9-inch inner screen. There will be a dual camera setup and LED flash on the back of the device.

Change in Production Strategy

Samsung has started production preparations for its new models, which it plans to launch in the second half of 2026. The company aims to produce 3.5 million units of Galaxy Z Fold 8 and 2.5 to 3 million units of Galaxy Z Flip 8.

This production plan marks a significant change in Samsung’s foldable phone strategy. For the first time, the Z Fold series will surpass the Z Flip series in annual production volume.

Until last year, Z Flip models accounted for 60 to 70 percent of Samsung’s foldable phone sales. However, this changed in 2025 when the sales figures of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which is lighter than the Galaxy S25 Ultra and stands out with its 8.9 mm thickness, surpassed the Flip 7.

What do you think about these improvements offered by the new generation foldable phones?
