Curved Screen Move from Samsung to iPhone 20

Curved Screen Move from Samsung to iPhone 20

Samsung continues to work on 3D curved screen technology that will rival the four-sided curved screen of the iPhone 20.

The iPhone 20 model, which Apple is expected to introduce in 2027, attracts attention in the technology world with its four-sided curved screen design. In parallel with these developments, Samsung continues to work on a similar display technology to use in its flagship models.

While the South Korean technology giant serves as the display supplier for the iPhone 20, it is also developing 3D curved display panels for its own devices. It is stated that this new display technology has been under development since 2025 and may be included in Samsung’s future Galaxy S series devices.

3D Curved Screen Technology and Future Plans

The 3D curved screen in question refers to a design in which three of the four edges of the OLED panel are curved, while the remaining one edge is left flat. It is assumed that Samsung can use this new display technology in upper segment devices such as the Galaxy S28 Ultra, which Apple will launch after the launch of the iPhone 20, that is, in early 2028.

As part of the screen supply agreement with Apple, Samsung may need to avoid directly copying the four-sided curved design on the iPhone 20. This is considered to be one of the main reasons why Samsung turned to its own 3D curved screen structure.

Competition in the Display Market and New Interface Expectations

It is not yet clear whether Samsung will offer breaking effects similar to Apple’s Liquid Glass design in the One UI interface with its new display technology. Chinese smartphone manufacturers are also in a heavy race to integrate similar screen designs into their own devices.

Thanks to its expertise in display technologies, Samsung can not only use these panels in its own devices but also supply them to Apple’s Chinese Competitors. This move by the company seems likely to further intensify the screen design competition in the smartphone market in the coming years.
