Apple is preparing to strengthen its Apple smart home products strategy with redesigns in its stores. The company’s retail store layout teams have begun creating space within stores to showcase new hardware expected to be introduced this fall. The walls along the sides of the stores, known as Avenues, are used to showcase accessories other than the main product lines such as iPhone, iPad, and Mac. The redesign of these areas for the fall launches highlights the value Apple places on new hardware.

The Smart Home Era in Stores

It is claimed that the changes will not be limited to updating existing products, but will also include the addition of a new device. According to information in Bloomberg’s Power On bulletin, this new product is expected to be a Home Hub.

Stores are expected to have a dedicated area showcasing the Home Hub device’s interface and how it works within the home. This area will allow users to see how the new device integrates into the smart home network.

This extensive design effort is seen as an indication of Apple’s desire to strengthen its position in the smart home market. This comprehensive change in store layout proves that the new hardware is not just an accessory, but essential devices that will be at the center of the home.

Expected Features of the New Devices

HomePod, expected to be updated in the fall, will come with a smaller, more processor-focused innovation. This update will include the device gaining Siri AI support and switching to Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 technologies.

A similar internal hardware update is also expected for the Apple TV 4K model. Switching to the A17 Pro or newer chip will allow the device to use Siri AI features more efficiently.

According to leaks, a new Siri Remote is also rumored to be on the way. However, it is not yet clear what features this remote will have.

The Home Hub device is expected to be offered in two different forms. The first design includes a screen standing on a hemispherical base.

The second design has a structure that can be wall-mounted or magnetically attached to plates. The seven-inch square screen will be used to control smart home functions.

Other devices on the home network can be managed via the screen. In addition, users will be able to track their notes, calendars, and travel plans via this screen.

The device can also be used as a photo frame. Functioning as an intercom system, the Home Hub will also display security camera footage on the screen.

Smart locks can also be managed through this device. Thanks to the built-in camera, FaceTime calls can also be made via the Home Hub.
