Apple Reduces OLED Screen Costs with iPhone 18 Pro Max

Apple Reduces OLED Screen Costs with iPhone 18 Pro Max

Apple aims to reduce the cost of iPhone 18 Pro Max OLED screens by $70. Details of strategic cost management in the face of rising memory prices are in our news.

Apple is aiming to significantly reduce OLED screen costs for its upcoming iPhone 18 series by changing its supply chain strategy. According to information from industry sources, the company plans to pay approximately $70 per panel used in iPhone 18 Pro Max models. This move represents a remarkable reduction compared to the high panel costs in previous models.

The technology giant aims to maintain its profitability by optimizing the costs of other critical components such as screens and cameras to offset the financial burden created by rising memory chip prices.

  • Apple plans to reduce the unit price for iPhone 18 Pro Max screens to $70.
  • Rising memory costs are forcing the company to cut budgets on other hardware components.
  • Samsung Display and LG Display are preparing to meet Apple’s production demands using their new M16 organic materials.

Screen Manufacturing Technologies are Being Improved

The OLED panels to be used in the iPhone 18 series will feature Apple’s latest M16 organic material set. This technology promises higher brightness levels, longer lifespan, and improved color accuracy compared to previous generations.

The integration of new materials into the system necessitates the reorganization of production processes and increased efficiency rates for both Samsung Display and LG Display. While this process has become more technically complex for manufacturers, Apple continues its commitment to reducing component costs.

The price pressure Apple is applying to its suppliers is initiating a new period of savings in the smartphone world.

Competition Increases in the Supply Chain

According to information shared by UBI Research, Samsung Display is expected to supply Apple with approximately 46 million OLED panels this year, while LG Display is expected to supply more than 41 million. Both manufacturers confirm Apple’s intense pressure to reduce component costs.

In previous years, Apple paid over $100 for iPhone 16 Pro Max screens, but managed to reduce this price to $80 with the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Now, with the iPhone 18 series, Apple is taking this cost discipline to a higher level, reinforcing its control over hardware costs.

Rising memory prices have become one of the most significant factors directly impacting production costs in the global smartphone market. To avoid passing this cost increase on to the end consumer or to protect its own profit margins, Apple is pursuing a strict bargaining strategy in strategic areas such as screens. Giant manufacturers like Samsung and LG, while increasing their technological capacity, continue to optimize their production lines to adapt to these new and competitive price levels set by Apple.

Do you think Apple’s reduction in screen costs will affect the quality of the iPhone 18 series, or is this simply an operational efficiency success? You can share your opinions with us in the comments section.
