Apple and Intel Will Collaborate to Produce Chips in the USA

Apple and Intel Will Collaborate to Produce Chips in the USA

Apple is preparing to cooperate with Intel in the USA with the aim of diversifying chip production. Details of the partnership announced by Trump are in our news.

US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that technology giant Apple has established a strategic partnership with Intel for the production of some processors that will be used in its own devices. This development is considered as a critical step taken by Apple, which aims to diversify its global supply chain, to move its production capacity to the United States. While there was a 9 percent increase in Intel shares in the pre-market period, Apple shares also showed a moderate increase. The collaboration in question stands out as part of a broader strategy aimed at reducing Apple’s dependence on its current manufacturing partner TSMC.

  • Apple and Intel have signed a preliminary agreement for US-based chip production.
  • Intel will undertake the production process of processors designed by Apple.
  • Apple was experiencing supply chain constraints due to its high dependence on TSMC.
  • Intel shares gained 9 percent in the markets following the announcement.

There is a Transformation in Production Strategy

For a long time, only Taiwan-based TSMC had been producing Arm-based chips, which Apple designed in-house, for a long time. However, increasing global demand for artificial intelligence servers has limited the capacity TSMC allocated to the consumer electronics segment. This situation led to Apple’s inability to supply enough processors for new generation devices such as the iPhone 17 and disruptions in production processes.

Apple has had to diversify its chip production to manage supply chain risks.

Intel Trying to Gain Power Again

Intel went through a difficult period for a long time due to the chip supply problems it had with Apple in the past and falling behind competitors such as TSMC and Samsung. But with Lip-Bu Tan taking over the company, Intel has made significant progress in modernizing its production technologies and regaining its market share. The financial support provided to Intel by the US government under the Chips Act last year helped the company increase its market value to $608.7 billion.

Intel is expected to take over production of entry-level chips, including Apple’s low-performance M-series processors. This model will allow Apple to ensure security of supply while freeing up TSMC’s advanced production lines for more critical missions.

This cooperation between two giants of the technology world can radically change the production stability in the sector.

Future Production Capacity Will Increase

Although there is no official confirmation from Apple or Intel yet, analysts state that this subsidiary heralds a long-term transformation. Apple plans to strengthen its hand against supply chain restrictions by locating the production of its own chips in a center other than TSMC. The scope of this subsidiary and the details of the first processors to be produced at Intel facilities will become clear in the coming months.
