Microsoft has started testing the new Screen Tint feature for Windows 11, which aims to reduce eye fatigue.
Microsoft is working on a new feature to improve user experience in the latest preview versions released for Windows 11. This new ability, called “Screen Tint”, allows the application of special color layers to prevent the screen from tiring the eyes.
This feature, which is currently under development, goes beyond the existing Night Light option and offers users a wider area of customization. Microsoft states that these new layers aim to reduce visual stress on the screen and increase reading comfort.
Color Options According to Different Needs
The new feature of Windows 11 comes with six different ready-made color tones that users can choose to suit different usage scenarios. While the Calm amber option is recommended for long-term screen use, the Rose tint option helps reduce migraine triggers and fluorescent light sensitivity.
While the Soft Yellow option increases reading comfort by reducing visual stress, the Cool Blue option is used for glare sensitivity, especially in bright environments. In addition, the Gentle green option helps relieve photophobia and discomfort caused by white backgrounds, while the Natural gray option is developed for users who are tired of high black-white contrast.
Customizable Experience and Accessibility
The Screen Tone feature is not limited to the six presets offered, but also allows users to create their own custom color overlays. In addition to custom color options, users can easily adjust the filter intensity on the screen with the help of a special slider.
Microsoft is expected to position this new feature in the Accessibility section of Windows 11, alongside other assistive technologies such as color filters and contrast themes.
Announcements from Microsoft are expected about the official release date and details of this feature, which is not yet available for general use. What do you think about this new screen customization option?
