HarmonyOS 6.1.1 Beta 1 Released

HarmonyOS 6.1.1 Beta 1 Released

Huawei has released HarmonyOS 6.1.1 Beta 1, which offers automatic contact tracking, delayed preview and ArkUI improvements for software developers.

Rapidly expanding its smart device ecosystem, Huawei launches HarmonyOS 6.1.1 (24) Beta 1, a brand new test version for software developers. This update, which allows developers to test new system capabilities and API 24 functions via DevEco Studio before the stable release, stands out especially with advanced camera innovations and contextual features that make the user interface (ArkUI) more fluid.

New Era in Camera Experience: Automatic Person Tracking

One of the most prominent aspects of the update is the structural improvements made on the camera side. Huawei integrates a new autofocus feature called “Motion Tracking – AUTO_FRAMING” into the system. Thanks to this technology, the camera instantly detects the user’s movements and keeps him in the center of the frame at all times. The system, which works in the background, automatically crops and scales the image, completely eliminating the need for manual adjustments. This feature works like a professional camera assistant, eliminating the worry of getting out of frame, especially during video conference calls, vlog shooting or active sports training.

In addition, thanks to the “deferred preview” feature added to the system, developers can directly include this structure in the data flow instead of standard preview objects and use the Surface configuration much more efficiently for delayed preview processes.

Powerful Tools for Developers: DevEco Studio and ArkUI Innovations

In addition to these innovations on the camera side, Huawei is also significantly strengthening its software development environment DevEco Studio. The new version speeds up developers’ workflow by supporting API 24 project enhancements, instant changes to C++ code and source files, and more AppFreeze error log analysis (log parsing).

On the ArkUI side, which is the user interface framework, there are quite comprehensive and fine-tuning changes. When applications use the “Parallel View” feature, they can instantly retrieve the column status at runtime thanks to the new API interface. This allows animations and user experience to be adjusted much more smoothly. In addition, the Tabs component now offers nested scrolling support, while a new interface is added to the JS component to listen to the rotating crown movements on smart watches.

In multi-line texts, abbreviations (punctuation) can now be made not only from the end of the text, but also from the beginning or middle. In addition, details such as new asynchronous notifications for drag-and-drop operations and the “onNeedSoftkeyboard” callback that keeps the on-screen keyboard open after focus changes give application developers a much more flexible control area when creating their own interfaces.
