DRAM Price Lawsuit Filed Against Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron

DRAM Price Lawsuit Filed Against Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron

Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron are facing a class-action lawsuit in the US, alleging they artificially raised prices by restricting DRAM supply.

The prices reaching historical peaks due to the worldwide memory shortage left technology giants in a difficult situation. Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron are facing a class-action lawsuit filed in the US. The case document numbered 3:26-cv-06345, submitted to the Northern California District Court on June 25, 2026, includes the allegation that the three manufacturers in question deliberately restricted the supply of DRAM and artificially increased the prices in the market.

In this process, which will be led by Judge Noel Wise, consumers and various technology companies are demanding compensation, arguing that memory manufacturers violated anti-trust laws.

  • US courts have accepted a class-action lawsuit against DRAM manufacturers Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron.
  • The plaintiffs alleged that memory manufacturers manipulated prices by artificially limiting supply on the market.
  • High demand and production restrictions in the industry indicate that memory prices will continue to increase in the third and fourth quarters of 2026.

These huge price increases in the memory segment are deeply shaking not only personal consumers but the entire technology supply chain.

Past Price Fixing Violations Recalled

The documents also highlight the manufacturers’ past records. In 2005, Samsung Electronics was sentenced to pay a $300 million fine by the US Department of Justice for fixing DRAM prices. At that time, large companies such as Apple, Dell, HP and IBM were directly affected by this application. Although the current case is not exactly the same as what happened at that time, it causes the producers’ dominance over the market to be questioned again.

Manufacturers Are Making Efforts to Solve Supply Problems

Companies state that memory shortage is not an artificial fiction and that excessive demand, especially from the artificial intelligence department, exceeds production capacity. DRAM manufacturers state that they are trying to expand the supply by establishing new production facilities and additional lines. However, experts do not expect a significant relief in prices until 2028.

Long-term agreements with strategic customers make memory availability even more difficult for the standard consumer market.

Tension in the Industry Is Increasingly Escalating

Strategic subsidiaries of manufacturers make the memory procurement processes of standard users in the market more painful. The court’s decision will have a decisive impact on the future pricing policies of DRAM manufacturers. While investors and technology enthusiasts wait for the case to be concluded, instability in the market is expected to continue.
