Developed in cooperation with ASELSAN and Türk Telekom, domestic smartphones with satellite connectivity and encrypted models are preparing to meet users in 2027.
In a significant step in Turkey’s technology ecosystem, official work has begun on the production of a domestic smartphone through a collaboration between ASELSAN, Türk Telekom, and TTT Innovation. This project, targeted for release in the first quarter of 2027, involves the development of three different smartphone models.
These models, which also include encrypted options specifically for public employees, stand out with their satellite connectivity infrastructure aimed at providing uninterrupted connection, particularly in critical situations such as natural disasters. While the goal is to make the operating system of the devices, which will be produced in Istanbul, completely localized over time, the strategic value of the project was determined as a result of long-term consultations with public institutions.
The Project is Being Grown with a Strategic Structure
According to information shared by Aydın Erkoç, President of the Turkic World Business Council, this domestic smartphone initiative, which is the result of approximately three years of preparation, does not only have a commercial purpose. With ASELSAN’s involvement, the project, which has gained technological depth, is based on reliable communication during times of crisis.
While a special company structure is being created for the project, the search for a CEO is also accelerating with the aim of determining the management team.

Production and Operating System Process Taking Shape
Initially based on the Android operating system, the models are planned to transition to an operating system developed with domestic resources over time.
It is stated that the production capacity will start in a center to be established in Istanbul and will be moved to a more comprehensive facility in the future. Strengthening the project with domestic software and hardware components directly contributes to Türkiye’s vision of technological independence.
These smart devices, designed with the needs of public institutions in mind, aim to increase security at the state level, especially with their encrypted connection capabilities. ASELSAN’s engineering strength is seen as the project’s biggest asset. The steps to be taken in terms of software will determine Türkiye’s place in the portable operating system market.
Domestic phones will be on the shelves in the first quarter of 2027 with an affordable pricing policy.
