Apple Rising in the Laptop Market

Apple Rising in the Laptop Market

Apple is poised to overtake Dell in the global laptop market. Data from Apple, which increased its market share with the effect of MacBook Neo and Apple Silicon.

Apple is preparing to leave Dell behind by charting a significant upward trend in the global laptop market. According to Sigmaintell data, the advantages offered by the entry-level MacBook Neo model and Apple Silicon architecture play a critical role in the company’s success.

Global laptop shipments are expected to drop 8 percent this year to 181.1 million units. Despite this contraction in the overall market, Apple is expected to increase its shipments by 22 percent to 28 million units.

Market share increase with MacBook Neo

Market research company Sigmaintell states that the global laptop market will shrink this year due to the increase in component prices and general weakness. Total shipments are estimated to decrease from 196.7 million units to 181.1 million units.

In brand-based estimates, Lenovo maintains its leadership with 43 million units, while HP ranks second with 39 million units. Apple is expected to rank third with shipments of 28 million units, surpassing Dell’s forecast of 22.5 million units.

Apple’s entry-level MacBook Neo model, which has expanded its product range downwards, has a large share in this rise. This model, which is offered for sale with a starting price of 34,000 TL, has an important place in the company’s market strategy.

Sigmaintell emphasizes that the Unified Memory Architecture used in Apple Silicon processors also provides flexibility to the manufacturer. This structure, in which the CPU and GPU share the same memory resources, allows Apple to follow a more standard process in component procurement.

Ecosystem advantage and market dynamics

Apple’s revenue model differs markedly from traditional x86-based Windows manufacturers. High revenues from services such as the App Store and iCloud help offset cost pressure on the hardware side.

Manufacturers in the x86 camp, on the other hand, are more affected by the fluctuations in memory prices because they derive their income mainly from hardware sales.

Although companies such as Lenovo and Dell have an advantage in memory supply thanks to their large server businesses, they cannot escape the market-wide decline.

HP’s shipments are expected to decrease by 11 percent to 39 million units, while Asus’s shipments are expected to decrease by 10 percent to 16.5 million units.

On the Acer side, a 15 percent decrease is predicted due to dependence on low-priced products.

In the overall market, brands other than the top six manufacturers face a sharp decline of 27 percent. The fact that Apple is the only major manufacturer growing in a shrinking market shows that the balances in the industry have changed.

Do you think Apple’s growth momentum will continue in the coming years?
