Lawsuit Shock for Samsung for Foldable Phone Patents

Lawsuit Shock for Samsung for Foldable Phone Patents

Samsung is facing a new lawsuit alleging patent infringement regarding foldable phone technologies. Here are the details of the case.

Samsung is facing a new lawsuit alleging patent infringement regarding foldable phone technologies. The company called Lepton Computing LLC initiated legal proceedings against Samsung in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

Lepton Computing describes itself as the original developer of foldable phones. Although the company claims to have concepts and prototypes dating back to 2008, it does not have any smartphones released to date.

Patent Infringement Claims and Claims

The claims that Samsung violated nine different foldable phone patents. These patents include screen protection technologies, hardware structures, sensors and software features such as application continuity.

Lepton argues that all Samsung foldable devices released since the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 models violate these patents.

While the company is seeking compensation from Samsung, it is also seeking a permanent ban on the sale of foldable devices in the US.

The fact that the patents in question were registered in 2021 stands out as an important detail that may affect the course of the case.

Samsung started to release foldable phones long before this date.

Patent Troll Suspicion and Prospects

It is noteworthy that Lepton Computing has not produced any devices before and is not known to the public. Industry sources state that the company has only two employees and no contact information.

This situation suggests that the company is a structure that does not aim to develop a product, but only tries to generate income through patent rights.

Experts predict that Samsung has a high chance of having this case dismissed or the process may end in a settlement.

It is considered very unlikely that Samsung will impose a ban on its devices currently on the market.

How do you think such patent cases affect the technology world?
