You Can Now Play LoL With a Steering Wheel!

You Can Now Play LoL With a Steering Wheel!

With the 26.9 patch, League of Legends can now be played with unusual controllers such as a racing wheel. Details and the trial of content producer Dumbs are in our news.

An innovation that will radically change the gaming experience in Riot Games’ popular MOBA game LoL is coming to the players. With the upcoming 26.9 patch, the game can now be played with the steering wheel controller instead of the WASD keys. This new feature allows players to experience the game in a different way than ever before.

Although players have been able to use different controllers through third-party software for a long time, a content producer has taken this feature to a whole new level and managed to play League of Legends with a racing wheel.

When I first heard about this incredible innovation, I thought of a few League of Legends content creators who could bring such crazy projects to life. Although one of the first names that came to mind was Albert ‘Boxbox’ Zheng, when I watched the video I realized that it was ‘Dumbs’. He provides a racing simulation experience with his character Rammus, in his racing seat and wearing sunglasses.

  • League of Legends’ 26.9 patch will integrate WASD control support into the game.
  • Content producer Dumbs manages to play the game with a racing wheel.
  • This innovation offers players the opportunity to experience the game in a different way than ever before.
  • It took Dumbs 12 hours of troubleshooting to set up this system.

Dumbs Goes Viral Playing LoL with a Wheel

“I don’t know, I just thought it would be funny to compete in League of Legends,” Dumbs explains the reason for this unusual attempt. He states that it takes 12 hours of troubleshooting to get the system up and running.

In the shared short gameplay video, it is seen that the steering wheel is used with surprising fluency. Although the racing wheel does not rotate a full 360 degrees and requires a key assignment to go back, this does not reduce the fun of the game.

This creative solution opens the door to new possibilities in the gaming world.

Will New Control Methods Enrich the Gaming Experience?

It is thought that this unusual control method may also attract the attention of players such as Nunu expert Charlie ‘Kesha’ Eriksson. The pro league may even bring back the Sion Speedway segment of the LCS, which could be exciting to see how the pros will perform in Summoner’s Rift. This could even inspire LoL’s racing enthusiasts to form their own F1-style league.

In fact, trying to play League of Legends with a racing wheel is not limited to Dumbs. In 2017, YouTuber ‘Maxim’ made a similar attempt. However, since there was no WASD support at that time, Rammus could not be moved with the steering wheel. With today’s technical possibilities and the 26.9 patch, which will be released on Wednesday, April 29, the obstacles to creative controller experiments seem to have been removed.

Such innovations that push the boundaries of technology increase interest in games.
