Which Processors Will Intel’s New Price Strategy Affect?

Which Processors Will Intel’s New Price Strategy Affect?

Intel is increasing the prices of some Core Ultra and Xeon processors due to supply chain costs. Here are the details.

Intel announced that it will adjust the prices of some consumer and server processors due to the increase in supply chain costs and changing market conditions. According to the information shared on July 6, these price increases do not cover the entire product range and are mainly aimed at upper segment models.

Company officials stated that they closely follow cost and demand stability and stated that this decision was mandatory. Especially for Xeon processors on the server side, there are price increases ranging from 7 percent to 12 percent.

Price change in server and desktop processors

It is stated that price increases for some premium Xeon processor models can reach hundreds or even thousands of dollars. For entry-level server chips, prices remain largely constant.

The situation affecting desktop users is relatively more limited. Core Ultra 200-seriesSome “Plus” models are experiencing price increases ranging from $30 to $50. In particular, the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus and Core Ultra 5 250K Plus models are among the products affected by this regulation.

These Arrow Lake-based processors were initially positioned as price-performance focused options. However, supply constraints and increasing component costs forced Intel to make this price update.

Market conditions and production strategy

Other Arrow Lake processors and most of Intel’s current product line remain at the same price level for now. This process is taking place in an era when DRAM and NAND Flash memory prices are rising and overall costs are increasing.

It is observed that interest in DDR4 platforms has revived again due to its more cost-effective nature. The shortage of new memory standards is driving users to old generation platforms.

In order to meet this demand, Intel is increasing the production of Core processors from the 10th generation to the 14th generation. While the company tries to maintain its profit margins, it also follows a careful strategy not to lose its market share against AMD and other competitors.

The price increases are expected to particularly affect technology enthusiasts and data center buyers. Raw materials, production processes and global supply chain issues continue to put pressure on the technology world as a whole.

Intel’s transparent attitude regarding this price change helps reduce uncertainty in the market.

So, what do you think about Intel’s pricing policy?
