Türkiye has achieved remarkable success by continuing its rapid rise in the electric car market. According to the data shared by car journalist Taylan Özgür Lisan, Türkiye has occupied an important position throughout Europe with the sales figures it reached in the first four months of 2026.
Our country managed to become the 4th largest electric car market in Europe with sales of 54,463 units during the said period. This information reveals how quickly Türkiye’s interest in electric vehicles and market volume is expanding.
General growth trend in the European market
In the period between January and April, the electric car market in Europe grew by 15.3 percent, with the influence of renewed incentives. As a result of this growth, total sales reached 746,899.
In the expanded market, which includes the United Kingdom and EFTA countries, the growth rate was 29.1 percent. The total sales volume in this comprehensive market increased to 978,845 units, proving that interest in electric vehicles is increasing across the continent.
Germany is at the top of the market with sales of 223,980 units, while England ranks second with 176,698 units. France ranks third with sales of 148,299 units, maintaining its place among the leading countries in Europe’s electric vehicle market.
The fastest growing brands in the market
Attractive names stand out among the brands that achieved the highest growth rates in the first four-month period across Europe. China-based car manufacturers Leapmotor, Chery and BYD were the brands that rapidly increased their market shares during this period.

US-based technology and car giant Tesla also continued its growth by being included in this cluster of four. The success of these brands shows that diversity in consumers’ electric vehicle preferences is increasing and competition is intensifying.
