Special Consumption Tax (SCT) Collection in the Automotive Sector Exceeds 419 Billion TL in 7 Months

Special Consumption Tax (SCT) Collection in the Automotive Sector Exceeds 419 Billion TL in 7 Months

The Special Consumption Tax (SCT) collected from motor vehicles reached 419.9 billion TL in the first 7 months of the year. How did the contraction in the automotive market affect tax revenues?

Automotive journalist Emre Özpeynirci shared current information regarding Special Consumption Tax (SCT) revenues obtained from motor vehicle sales. According to the shared data, the total SCT collected from the automotive sector in the first seven months of the year reached 419.9 billion TL.

The contraction in the automotive market has begun to directly affect the state’s tax revenues. The downward trend in the sector has led to a decrease in the state’s SCT revenues from the automotive sector for the first time in a long time.

Notable decrease in SCT revenues

In July, the automotive market contracted by 24.5 percent. As a result of this contraction, SCT collection in the same period decreased by 2.55 percent to 60.1 billion TL.

44.16% of the Special Consumption Tax (SCT) revenue target set for 2026 was met by the end of the first seven months. The fact that 47.16% of this target was reached in the same period last year shows that the remaining five months of the year are of critical importance.

It is stated that if the current contraction trend in the market continues, the year-end SCT targets may be at risk. If this happens, it is mentioned that the state may use its powers on SCT regulations.

Alarm bells are ringing in the sector

The contraction in the automotive market directly affects tax collection figures and maintains its place on the economic agenda. Experts emphasize that the current course of the market will be decisive in achieving year-end targets.

Özpeynirci, in his assessment, draws attention to the pressure that the contraction in the automotive market is creating on the state’s tax revenues. It remains to be seen how these changes in the sector will be reflected in tax policies in the coming months.

Do you think this market contraction will continue until the end of the year?
