PlayStation 5 Runs Bloodborne at 100 FPS

PlayStation 5 Runs Bloodborne at 100 FPS

Tests conducted by Digital Foundry show that Bloodborne can run at 100 FPS and 4K resolution on PlayStation 5, but Sony has not taken any steps in this regard.

Digital Foundry, one of the leading names in the technology world, revealed how the well-known action RPG game Bloodborne can create a revolution with modifications on PlayStation 5. In tests conducted using modern hardware power, it has been proven that the game can run at native 4K resolution and with a performance of over 100 FPS without developer intervention.

With this discovery, it was once again opened to discussion that the opportunities offered by Sony Interactive Entertainment in terms of backward compatibility did not fully reflect the potential of the system. PlayStation 5 owners can take their Bloodborne experience to a much smoother level by taking advantage of the high processor and GPU speeds offered by the console.

  • Thanks to the modifications, Bloodborne can run on PlayStation 5 at native 4K resolution with a stable frame rate of 30 FPS.
  • It is observed that the game reaches 100 FPS levels with 120Hz VRR support at low resolution settings.
  • Sony’s current backwards compatibility policy prevents older games from taking full advantage of the hardware’s power.

Hardware Power Is Limited by Software Restrictions

The image shared by Digital Foundry details how a mod maker named Christina optimized Bloodborne by using the extra RAM capacity of PlayStation 5. Normally, backward compatible games cannot reach the full clock speeds offered by the console and run below the real power of the system.

The modifications fix the game’s technical flaws and provide an experience as good as an official remaster version.

Frame rate fluctuations in the original version, which bothered users a lot, are completely eliminated with this special modification. With anti-aliasing improvements and the removal of the chromatic aberration effect, the game’s visual quality is approaching today’s standards. This shows how big a difference Sony’s software updates can make for old games.

There Are More Expectations for the Next Generation

The resulting 1440p resolution and 120Hz VRR values represent the smoothest version of Bloodborne on the console. Reducing input lag provides a vital advantage for players, considering the difficulty level of the game. But all these improvements can only be made through mods, without developer intervention.

Sony is not expected to make a system-level improvement before the current generation ends.

With the gaming world now focused on the PlayStation 6, gamers are demanding that Sony offer more than just easy backwards compatibility on its new console. In a period when hardware prices are rising, automatically reinforcing the existing library with current hardware power will significantly increase the attractiveness of the system. Sony’s ignorance of this potential continues to cause great disappointment among fans.

Do you think Sony should introduce an automatic performance mode for backwards compatible games? Would it be a reason for you to play classics such as Bloodborne at 60 FPS or higher speeds? We are waiting for your comments.
