Oppo has merged its OnePlus and Realme brands under a new business unit led by Sky Li. Here are the details of the major restructuring in the giant technology company.
Making a strategic change in the smartphone market, technology giant Oppo decided to combine the OnePlus and Realme brands under a newly created “sub-series business unit”. According to information from China-based industry sources, with this restructuring process, the company aims to optimize resource sharing and increase operational efficiency.
This new formation, led by Realme CEO Sky Li, will gather the future product development and marketing strategies of the brands under a single roof. This move is considered one of the most important steps taken by Oppo to increase its competitiveness in the global market.

New Restructuring Determined Management Staff
This structural change made by Oppo is not just a merger. Significant changes in duties at the management level also attract attention. Xu Qi, who manages Realme’s global marketing operations, has now become the person responsible for the marketing and service systems of both OnePlus and Realme.
On the product development side, a new product center was created under the leadership of OnePlus China President Li Jie. In this role, Li Jie is positioned to report to OnePlus co-founder Pete Lau. Wang Wei, one of the former Realme executives, was appointed as deputy general manager in this structure.
Engineering and Technical Processes Connected to Oppo
One of the most tangible results of the merger was the relocation of Realme’s research and development (R&D) team to Oppo’s headquarters. Imaging, hardware design and other critical technical departments no longer operate as independent units but directly as part of Oppo’s overall system.
This integration process actually started slowly from the beginning of the year. In particular, the complete transfer of after-sales support services to Oppo’s network structure as of April 1, 2026 was among the first signals of this major change.
