Legendary Map Cache Returns with CS2 Update

Legendary Map Cache Returns with CS2 Update

Legendary map Cache is back with the CS2 update. All the details about the renewed visuals, performance improvements and tactical changes are here.

Cache, one of the most popular maps in the Counter-Strike 2 world, was officially added to the game with the major update made by Valve on April 28. After years of waiting, the map, which has been completely overhauled with the power of the Source 2 engine, draws attention with both its visual quality and improvements in gameplay mechanics. Cache, which has not been in the active map pool since 2019, aims to offer players a combination of nostalgia and modern performance with its renewed face. Cache, the fourth legendary map optimized for CS2 after Inferno, Train and Overpass, has already received great acclaim from the player community.

  • Valve has completely redesigned the legendary map Cache with the Source 2 engine and included it in CS2.
  • By reducing the visual complexity on the map, performance increased and a smoother gaming experience was achieved.
  • The tactical balance of the map has been reshaped by removing the window in the central area.
  • With the update, various improvements and bug fixes were made in other maps such as Dust II.

Cache has managed to preserve the spirit of the game with modern visual standards.

Source 2 Engine Improves Visual Quality

The new Cache map looks quite impressive thanks to the advanced lighting and texture technologies provided by the Source 2 engine. While the greenish atmosphere created by the corrugated metal walls in area B maintains the deserted and industrial feel of the map we know, area A has a much brighter and cleaner design. Valve managed to achieve current graphic standards without destroying the original texture of the map.

The legendary s1mple graffiti point has been removed from the map with the new update.

Tactical Gameplay Reshapes

Beyond visual improvements, significant changes have also been made to the gameplay dynamics of the map. Especially the central region was the point of the map that changed the most. Closing the window on the CT side makes it easier for the Terrorists to access the central area, while making it necessary for the Counter-Terrorist side to rebuild their defensive strategies. Thanks to the cleaning of unnecessary visual elements, there is a noticeable increase in FPS values.

Changes Are Being Made to Other Maps

The update dated April 28 was not limited to Cache only. A secret jump point was discovered in the Mid Box area of the Dust II map, while fine adjustments were made to the Animgraph 2 system. Additionally, sound errors related to the C4 bomb were also fixed with this patch. Valve continues to constantly improve the CS2 platform.
